First Class Travel to New Zealand

Fly With the Award Winners, Sail With the Best...

First Class Travel to New Zealand is a must. You are coming to the most geographically isolated landmass on the planet.

So you need to fly or sail...

And it has never been easier, or more comfortable...

All the SKYTRAX First Class award-winners fly here...

  • Cathay Pacific
  • Singapore Airlines
  • Malaysia Airlines

Which is useful given that, apart from the, relatively, short-haul flights from Australia, every other flight is over 10 hours duration.

Doubly-useful. Because Cathay Pacific (OneWorld) has twice-daily long-haul, non-stop flights from Hong Kong to Auckland (11 hours).

Cathay First Class seat
At the heart of their First Class is the seat. Among the longest and widest in the sky, the First Class seat can quickly and easily extend into a full-length bed.

Privacy screens on the aisle side - and also between the centre seats, transform your seating area into a secure and very cozy "bedroom". For extra comfort, you will receive luxury duvets, pillows and, for the ultimate in slumber comfort, a "sleepsuit".

Your First Class seat has a pitch of 79 inches, is 22 inches wide between the armrests, has a bed width of 25 inches, and can recline 180 degrees into a completely flat bed.

Singapore Airlines (Star Alliance) offers the same from Singapore. Though you will need to check that the flight is actually operated by SIA. The airline has a code-sharing arrangement with Air New Zealand which, unfortunately, didn't rank at all...

Though it has some of the best lie-flat Business Class seats in the industry.

Second Year in a Row

This marks the second year in a row for Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines to take out the honours with Malaysia Airlines easing Qantas out of the Top Three.

In fact, the three First Class Travel winners are also the overall winners of the Asia category of this year's survey.

And Hong Kong International and Singapore Changi also took out places in the Top Three Airports category.

You can start to see a pattern establishing, I trust.

For unmitigated comfort:

  • Cathay Pacific through Hong Kong.
  • Or Singapore Airlines (check that code sharing) through Singapore.

For your booking, contact my colleague Hamish Jamieson. He's an accredited IATA agent and well placed to advise you about First Class Travel to New Zealand - or anywhere else for that matter.
